Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Propeka respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you use propeka.com and related services (the “Services”). It also explains the choices and rights you have.

Who we are

The Services are operated by Propeka (“Propeka,” “we,” “us” or “our”).

Propeka is a U.S. real estate marketplace. Real estate agents, brokers, builders and property owners (“publishers”) publish property listings. People looking for a home browse listings, save homes and searches, and contact publishers. Propeka is not a real estate brokerage.

For privacy questions or requests, use our Support page.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information we collect through propeka.com, our sign-in and account pages, our forms and the emails we send. It does not cover:

  • What a publisher does with your inquiry after we deliver it. Publishers are independent, and they handle your information under their own practices.
  • Websites and services run by other companies, even when we link to them or you use them with Propeka. Examples are Google, Facebook and our payment processor’s checkout page. Their own privacy policies apply.

The short version

  • We collect what you give us (account, profile, listings, inquiries and support messages) and what your browser sends us. When you choose to use Google sign-in, Facebook sign-in or our payment processor, we also receive limited information from them.
  • We use it to run the marketplace: accounts, listings, delivering inquiries to the right publisher, billing, support and security.
  • Listings are public. Professional profiles are public only if the professional chooses. Buyer accounts are not shown publicly.
  • Our pages use Google tools for analytics and advertising, including Google AdSense advertising code on many pages. Google collects information about your visit through cookies and similar technologies. Our Google tag can also detect email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses on our pages and send them to Google in hashed form. Some state laws may call this “selling” or “sharing” personal information.
  • Our site does not currently offer its own opt-out control, and it does not currently respond to Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals. You can limit personalized ads and analytics with the Google and industry tools listed under Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices.
  • We never receive your full payment card number. We do not sell or rent lists of our users’ names, email addresses or phone numbers.
  • Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask to access, correct or delete your information. Use our Support page.

Information we collect

We collect personal information in four ways. You give it to us. Some is collected automatically when you use the Services. We receive some from other companies when you choose to use them with Propeka. And some comes from other users or from public sources.

Information you give us

  • Account information. When you create an account, you give us a username, email address, password and account type (real estate agent, broker, property owner, builder or buyer). We also record that you accepted our Terms of Use and acknowledged this Privacy Policy, with the date, the time and the version of those documents. We store your password only in hashed (scrambled) form.
  • Profile information. You can add profile details such as your name, public display name, title or position, and mobile, office and fax numbers. You can also add a tax number, company or agency name, service areas, social media links, Zillow and Realtor.com profile links, a bio and a profile photo. Agents and brokers can also add an optional private account address. If you add a tax number, use a business tax ID, such as an EIN. Never enter a Social Security number.
  • Listings. When you publish a listing, you give us the property’s title, description, type, status, price, size, bedrooms and bathrooms. You also give us its street address, city, state and ZIP code, an optional map pin, photos, floor plans and any virtual tour or video you add.
  • Inquiries and tour requests. When you contact a publisher about a listing, you give us your full name, phone number, email address and message, and optionally your role. A tour request can also include the date and time you would like.
  • Saved homes and searches. We keep the homes you save as favorites and the searches you save, including any email alert settings.
  • Reviews. We keep reviews you write about professionals.
  • Plans and billing. We keep the plan you choose, its status and renewal dates, amounts charged, invoices and receipts. We also keep payment and subscription reference numbers from our payment processor. You enter your payment card details on our payment processor’s own checkout page, not on propeka.com, so we never receive your full card number.
  • Support messages. When you use our Support page, you give us your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, and you agree to our use of them to answer you. If the form shows an error, we hold what you typed for up to 10 minutes so you don’t have to type it again. Please don’t include passwords or payment card numbers.
  • Other communications. We keep emails you send us and our replies.

We do not ask for information about race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin or other characteristics protected by fair-housing laws.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and connection information. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language and the page that referred you to us.
  • Usage information. This includes the pages and listings you view and the searches you run, including words you type into the property search, such as a city or ZIP code. It also covers scrolling, clicks on links to other websites, file downloads, video engagement, and when you start and submit forms. Google Analytics records that you started or submitted a form, not the text you typed into it. Our Google tag can separately detect contact details on our pages, as described in Contact details and the Google tag.
  • Listings you view while signed in. When you are signed in, we may keep a record of the listings you view. If you contact a publisher, that publisher may be able to see which of their listings you viewed.
  • Approximate location. Google Analytics estimates your general area (such as city, region and country) from your IP address and reports it to us in aggregate. We do not ask for or use your device’s precise (GPS) location. Photos you upload can contain location details; see Information that is public.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. See Cookies, tags and similar technologies.
  • Server and security records. Our server records requests to the site: IP address, date and time, the page requested and browser information. We also keep limited security records, such as counts of repeated failed sign-in attempts, to protect accounts and the site.

Information from other companies

  • Google sign-in. If you choose “Continue with Google,” we receive your name, your email address and a Google account identifier from Google. We accept only an email address that Google has verified. We do not keep your Google profile photo.
  • Facebook sign-in. If you choose “Continue with Facebook,” we receive your first and last name, a Facebook account identifier and a link to your Facebook profile picture, which may be used as your account picture. We also receive your email address if you allow Facebook to share it. If Facebook does not share an email address, we ask you for one.
  • Our payment processor. Recurrente tells us whether a payment or subscription succeeded, failed, renewed or was cancelled, with amounts, dates and reference numbers. Its notifications can also include the name and email address you entered on its checkout page.
  • Google reports. Google Analytics, Google Ads and Google AdSense send us reports. These are mostly aggregated and generally do not identify you to us.

We never receive your Google or Facebook password. Signing in with Google or Facebook does not let us post on your behalf.

Information from other users and public sources

  • Reviews. Other users can write reviews of professionals. If you are a professional, reviews about you come from other users.
  • Public sources. We may collect business contact details of real estate professionals, such as name, brokerage, business email address and business phone number, from public sources such as brokerage websites and licensing directories, to tell them about Propeka. If we contact you this way, you can ask us to stop through our Support page.

How we use information

  • To create, secure and manage your account, including sign-in with email, Google or Facebook.
  • To review listings before they are published, and to publish and display listings and public professional profiles.
  • To deliver inquiries and tour requests to the right publisher, and to keep them in that publisher’s lead list.
  • To save your favorites and searches, and to send the saved-search alerts you ask for.
  • To process plan purchases, renewals and cancellations, and to keep billing records.
  • To answer support requests.
  • To send service emails, such as welcome and password-setup messages, password resets, and listing review and publication notices.
  • To understand how the Services are used and improve them, using analytics.
  • To show ads on our pages through Google AdSense, and to measure and improve our own advertising through Google Ads.
  • Where we have business contact details of real estate professionals from public sources, to tell them about Propeka. They can ask us to stop at any time.
  • To keep the Services safe. This includes preventing spam, fraud and abuse, limiting repeated attempts, recognizing browsers you have signed in from, and investigating problems.
  • To comply with the law, to enforce our Terms of Use, and to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public and Propeka.
  • For other purposes we tell you about when we collect the information, or with your consent.

We use sensitive personal information (your account log-in together with your password) only to provide and secure your account. We do not use it to infer things about you.

We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects, such as housing, credit or employment decisions, based solely on automated processing. We do not use your personal information to train artificial intelligence models.

Information that is public

  • Listings. Everything in a published listing is public. That includes the property’s address line, city, state and ZIP code, photos, description, price and the listing contact’s name. If the publisher sets a map pin, the map shows that spot. Otherwise, the map shows an approximate area around the city.
  • Professional profiles. Agent, broker and agency profiles are private by default. A profile becomes public only after the professional chooses to make it public and the profile meets our profile requirements, such as a photo, a bio and a published listing. Anything entered in the profile fields may then appear on the public profile.
  • Private account address. Your private account street address is not shown on your profile or listings. We may later use its city and state to help people find agents and brokers by location.
  • Buyer accounts. Buyer accounts are not shown publicly.
  • Reviews. A review you write appears on the reviewed professional’s profile. If you write it from a buyer account, it appears under the name “Private Buyer.” Reviews written from other accounts show the account’s display name.
  • Photo details. Photos can carry hidden details (metadata), such as the date, the camera and, for many phone photos, the place where the photo was taken. We do not currently remove this metadata, and the original photo files can be opened from listing pages. Remove location data from your photos before you upload them if you do not want to share it.

Search engines and other people may copy or keep public information, even after it is removed from Propeka.

How we disclose information

Publishers you contact

When you send an inquiry or tour request, we email it to the listing’s authorized contacts: the agent, agency or owner who published the listing. Your email address is set as the reply address, so the publisher can answer you directly. We also save the inquiry in that publisher’s lead list in their Propeka account, where the publisher may also see which of their listings you viewed while signed in.

Publishers are independent businesses or individuals. Their own practices govern how they use your information, not this policy. Propeka is not a party to your conversations or to any transaction.

Service providers

These companies handle personal information to provide services to us:

  • Website hosting. Our website and database run on a server rented from a hosting company.
  • Email delivery. Postmark sends most of our automated emails, such as password resets, inquiry notifications and listing notices. It receives each recipient’s email address and the content of each message.
  • Mailboxes. Zoho hosts our propeka.com mailboxes. Google provides email services that some of our team uses, including for copies of new-registration notices.
  • Payments. Recurrente runs our checkout page and processes plan payments in U.S. dollars. We send Recurrente only the plan you selected and a reference number. You give your name, email address and payment details directly to Recurrente, and Recurrente’s own privacy policy also applies.
  • Backups. We keep backup copies of our website, including its database, on our server, in Google Drive and on other storage we control, including copies made when we moved to our current hosting company.
  • Sign-in. Google and Meta (Facebook) confirm your identity when you choose to sign in with them.

Google, for analytics, advertising and measurement

Google receives information about your visits through Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads and AdSense code on our pages, as described under Analytics and advertising. Google uses some of this information for its own purposes, including personalizing ads, under its own privacy policy. Some state laws may treat this as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices for the choices available today.

Content from other companies on our pages

Some parts of our pages load directly from other companies. Your browser contacts them, so they receive your IP address and browser information under their own privacy policies. They are not our service providers:

  • Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on our pages.
  • The OpenStreetMap Foundation supplies the map images on listing pages. It also receives the map area you view.
  • WordPress.org supplies emoji images, but only if your browser cannot display certain emoji.
  • Virtual tour and video providers, such as Matterport or Kuula, or video sites, load when a publisher adds a tour or video to a listing. They may set their own cookies.

Share buttons (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WhatsApp and email) and “Open on Google Maps” are plain links. Nothing goes to those companies unless you click.

Legal, safety and business transfers

  • To comply with the law, legal process or valid government requests.
  • To enforce our Terms of Use; to investigate fraud, abuse, fair-housing complaints or intellectual-property complaints; and to protect the rights, property and safety of our users, the public and Propeka.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization or sale of all or part of our business. This policy will continue to apply to the transferred information unless you are notified otherwise and given any choice the law requires.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell or rent lists of our users’ names, email addresses or phone numbers. We do not share personal information with other companies for their own direct marketing by mail, email or phone.

Cookies, tags and similar technologies

Cookies are small files that your browser stores. Similar technologies include tags (small pieces of code that send information to a service), pixels and browser storage. We and Google use them as described below.

Cookies we set

These support sign-in, security and basic site features:

  • Sign-in cookies (wordpress_logged_in_…, wordpress_sec_… and wordpress_test_cookie) keep you signed in and check that your browser accepts cookies. They generally last until you close your browser, or up to 14 days if you choose “Remember me.”
  • Known-device cookie (pk_kd) helps us recognize a browser you have signed in from before, to protect your account. It lasts 180 days.
  • Sign-up welcome cookie (pk_registration_welcome) shows a welcome message after you create an account. It is deleted when you close your browser.
  • Google and Facebook sign-in cookies (pk_google_state, pk_facebook_state and pk_facebook_pending) protect the sign-in process. If Facebook does not share an email address, they also hold your sign-up until you add one. They last 10 minutes.
  • Saved-homes cookie (houzez_favorite_listings) may be on your browser from an earlier visit. It lists homes saved on that browser without an account and lasts up to 30 days.

Browser storage we use

  • Session storage is cleared when you close the tab. It remembers a home or search you asked to save while you sign in (for up to 30 minutes). It also holds short messages about plan features and your progress through Google or Facebook sign-in.

Google cookies and tags

  • Google Tag Manager loads our Google tags on our pages.
  • Google Analytics 4 sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_ followed by our measurement ID. They recognize your browser across visits.
  • Google Ads conversion tracking uses cookies such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw to measure whether our ads lead to visits and sign-ups, for example by remembering that you arrived from a Google ad. It also uses cookies on Google’s own domains.
  • Google AdSense can set cookies such as __gads, __gpi and __eoi on our site. It can also set cookies on Google’s advertising domains, such as doubleclick.net. These cookies serve, personalize and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and help prevent ad fraud.

Google decides how long its cookies last. Some last up to two years.

Your cookie controls

Analytics and advertising

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how people find and use the Services. Along with device information and approximate location from your IP address, it collects:

  • page views, including pages you reach without a full reload
  • scrolling and clicks on links to other websites
  • site searches, including the words you search for
  • video engagement and file downloads
  • when you start and submit forms

We have turned off Google signals. Google Analytics is set to remove email addresses that appear in page addresses and certain event details.

To learn how Google uses this information, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Google Ads

We advertise Propeka on Google. Google Ads receives information about the pages you view on our site. It is also told when someone creates a Free account or buys a paid plan, so Google can report which ads led to sign-ups. For those sign-up events, the details our site adds are only the type of event, its value in U.S. dollars and a reference number that does not reveal who you are, not your name, email address or account number. Contact details that our Google tag detects on its own are described in Contact details and the Google tag.

Google may use information collected on our pages to measure our ads and, depending on the settings of our Google advertising account, to show our ads to people who have visited our site (“remarketing”).

Contact details and the Google tag

Our Google tag uses Google’s automatic detection of “user-provided data.” On our pages, including listing inquiry and tour forms, sign-in and sign-up, the Support page and your account pages, it can detect email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses that appear in forms or on the page, and send them to Google in hashed form. This can include contact details you type into a form, the email address on your account and, on your account pages, your private account address. Hashing scrambles the data, but Google can match it to Google accounts, for example to measure our ads. Google designed the feature to look for email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses, and a detected address can include the name that goes with it.

Google AdSense ads

Many of our pages contain Google AdSense code, so ads served by Google can appear on them.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.
  • Other ad companies (third-party vendors and ad networks) that Google allows to show ads on our pages may also use cookies, web beacons and IP addresses to serve and measure ads.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google at Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices and optout.networkadvertising.org.

Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads. You will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices

We let Google collect information on our pages for personalized (cross-context behavioral) advertising, ad measurement and analytics. In return, we receive analytics and advertising services and may receive ad revenue. California law may call this “sharing” personal information, and it may also count as a “sale.” Other states may call it “targeted advertising” or a “sale.” In the past 12 months, the categories involved have been:

  • identifiers (IP address, cookie and advertising identifiers, and any email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses that our Google tag detects, in hashed form)
  • internet activity on our site
  • approximate location from your IP address
  • commercial information (that a sign-up or plan purchase happened, and its value)

State privacy laws that give a right to opt out of these activities apply to a business only when it meets the thresholds set by each law (see Your privacy rights). Our site does not currently offer its own opt-out link or setting, and it does not currently respond to Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signals. You can still limit how your information is used for advertising and analytics:

These tools are run by Google and other companies, not by Propeka. Some of them store your choice in a cookie, so if you delete your cookies or switch browsers or devices, you may need to make the choice again. Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads: you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

If you have questions about these choices, use our Support page.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland

The Services are intended for people in the United States. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, please note:

  • Cookies. Our site does not have its own cookie consent tool. Google’s analytics and advertising tags and cookies can load as described in this policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and use the tools described in Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices.
  • Who is responsible. Propeka is responsible for your personal information.
  • Your requests. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, as described in Your privacy rights. You can object to how we use your information through our Support page, and you can complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.
  • Where your information goes. Your information may be processed in the United States, Guatemala and other countries, as described in Where information is processed. These countries may not offer the same level of protection as the laws where you live.

Notice at collection: categories of personal information

This section lists the categories of personal information that we collected in the past 12 months, using the categories in California law. For each category, it says where the information comes from, who receives it and whether it may count as “sold” or “shared” under state laws that use those terms. We collect each category for the purposes listed in How we use information. How long we keep information explains how long we keep each kind. Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices describes the choices available today.

Identifiers

  • Examples: name, username, email address, phone number, postal address, account number, IP address, cookie and advertising identifiers, and Google or Facebook account identifiers.
  • Sources: you, your browser or device, Google or Meta if you sign in with them, and, for business contact details of real estate professionals, public sources.

  • Given at your direction to: the publishers you contact.
  • Sold or shared (as some state laws define these terms): Yes. IP address and cookie and advertising identifiers go to Google through Google Analytics, Google Ads and AdSense, for advertising, ad measurement and analytics. • Disclosed for business purposes to: our hosting and backup providers. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
  • Sold or shared: No.

Inferences

We do not draw inferences about your characteristics or build profiles to predict your preferences. Google may draw its own inferences for ad personalization. See Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices for ways to limit this.

Information we do not collect

We do not intentionally collect characteristics protected by fair-housing or anti-discrimination laws, Social Security numbers, financial account or full card numbers, biometric information or health information.

Your privacy rights

California and a growing number of other states give their residents privacy rights. Each of these laws applies to a business only when the business meets thresholds set by that law, for example a minimum annual revenue or a minimum number of people whose personal information it handles. We may not meet those thresholds. Even so, we honor the following requests from any user in the United States:

  • Access. You can ask what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we use it and who we have disclosed it to, and you can ask for a copy of it.
  • Correct. You can ask us to correct inaccurate information. You can also correct most account and profile details yourself on your My profile page.
  • Delete. You can ask us to delete your information. See Deleting your account.

If a state privacy law applies to us and to you, you may also have other rights under that law, such as the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or of targeted advertising, to receive your information in a portable format, to get a list of the third parties we disclosed it to, and to appeal our decision on a request. Advertising, “sale” and “sharing,” and your choices describes the advertising choices available today.

We do not use personal information for profiling that leads to decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower quality of service because you made a privacy request. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for personal information.

How to make a request

  • Use our Support page.
  • Make changes yourself: edit your profile, clear your private account address, delete saved searches or delete your account.

We respond as soon as we can and within the time the law requires. Requests are free. Where the law allows, we may decline requests that are clearly unfounded or excessive. If we decline a request, we will tell you why.

Verifying your identity

To protect your information, we need to confirm that a request comes from you. Usually we ask you to send or confirm the request from the email address on your account, or we match information you give us with information we already hold. We use the information you give for verification only for that purpose.

Authorized agents

You can have an authorized agent make a request for you. We may ask the agent for your signed permission, and we may ask you to verify your identity with us directly or to confirm that you gave the agent permission. We do not require these steps if the agent holds a valid power of attorney.

Appeals

If we decline your request, you can ask us to reconsider. Reply to our decision, or use our Support page and write “Privacy appeal” at the start of your message. We respond as soon as we can and within the time the law requires, and we explain our reasons. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can contact your state’s attorney general.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account and your personal information at any time:

  • Use “Delete account” on your My profile page.
  • Or ask us through our Support page, using the email address on your account.

If you have a paid plan, cancel it first under “Your plan” on the Plans & Prices page, or ask us to cancel it through our Support page. Deleting your account does not by itself cancel a paid plan with our payment processor. To make sure saved-search alerts stop, delete your saved searches before you delete your account.

When you use “Delete account,” some information connected to your account may not be removed automatically, for example your listings’ photo files, inquiries saved in publishers’ lead lists, reviews you wrote and your support messages. If you want all of your information deleted, email us as described above, and we will treat it as a deletion request.

When we handle a deletion request, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except information we need to keep, for example invoices and payment records for tax and accounting, information needed for security, fraud prevention or legal claims, and information the law requires us to keep. Copies may also remain in backups. See Backups.

If you sent an inquiry and want it deleted, we can delete the copy in the publisher’s lead list. We cannot delete the email the publisher already received. To ask the publisher to delete it, contact the publisher directly.

Deleting data received through Facebook sign-in

If you signed in with Facebook and want us to delete the information we received from Facebook, contact us through our Support page, using the email address on your account, and ask us to delete your Facebook sign-in data. We will delete the account created through Facebook sign-in, together with the information we received from Facebook (your name, email address, the link between your Facebook account and your Propeka account, and your profile picture link), subject to the exceptions above, and we will tell you when it is done.

Using “Delete account” on your My profile page may not remove all of this information, so please also send us this request.

You can also remove Propeka in the “Apps and websites” section of your Facebook settings. That stops Facebook from sharing new information with us, but it does not delete what we already have.

Information received through Google sign-in

We use the information we receive through Google sign-in (your name, verified email address and Google account identifier) to:

  • create your account and sign you in
  • keep your account secure
  • contact you about your account

Your email address is also treated like other contact details on our pages: when it appears on a page or in a form, our Google tag can detect it and send it to Google in hashed form, as described in Contact details and the Google tag. Apart from that, we disclose this information only to the service providers described in this policy, to others at your direction (for example, a publisher you contact), or as the law requires.

You can remove Propeka’s access at any time in your Google Account, under third-party apps and services. To have us delete the information we hold, see Deleting your account.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, and as required by law. In practice:

  • Account and profile information: kept while your account is open. See Deleting your account for what happens when you ask us to delete it.
  • Listings and photos: shown while the listing is published. When a listing is taken down or deleted, it is removed from our listing pages and search results, but its photo files can remain on our servers, and can still be opened by anyone who has their direct web address, until you ask us to delete them.
  • Inquiries and tour requests: kept in the publisher’s lead list until the publisher deletes them or you ask us to delete them. Copies the publisher received by email are under the publisher’s control.
  • Favorites and saved searches: kept until you remove them or ask us to delete them.
  • Reviews: kept while the review is published, until you ask us to remove a review you wrote or we remove it under our Terms of Use.
  • Billing records: invoices and payment records are kept as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes, including after an account is closed. Detailed payment notifications from Recurrente are cleared 120 days after we process them; a short record of each notification is kept with our billing records.
  • Terms acceptance records: kept with your account.
  • Support messages and team email copies: we do not delete support messages, or the email copies our team receives, on a fixed schedule. We keep them as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of our support, and you can ask us to delete them.
  • Security records: counts of repeated sign-in or form attempts are kept in hashed form and expire automatically after a short period. The known-device cookie lasts 180 days.
  • Server logs: kept as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, and as required by law.
  • Email delivery records: Postmark keeps records of the emails it sends, including their content, under the retention settings of its service. Our site also keeps records of recent email deliveries, as long as needed to check that our emails are delivered.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics keeps detailed data for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, within the limits Google allows. Reports that do not identify you may be kept longer.
  • Advertising data: Google keeps the data it collects through its cookies and tags under its own policies.

Backups

To protect against data loss, we keep backup copies of the website, including its database, on our server, in Google Drive and on other storage we control. Backups have no scheduled deletion date, so information deleted from our live systems, including information deleted at your request, can remain in backups. We use backups to restore or move the Services, not to contact you or for advertising.

How we protect information

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to our platform, including:

  • encrypted (HTTPS) connections on every page
  • passwords stored only in hashed form, with a minimum length of 15 characters
  • limits on repeated sign-in and form attempts, and spam protection
  • private account details, such as your private account address, that are not shown publicly
  • a payment page hosted by our payment processor, so card numbers never reach our servers

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Keep your password private. We will never ask you to send a password or a payment card number by email.

If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Children

The Services are intended for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it from our live systems. Copies may remain in backups as described in Backups, and we will not use them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us through our Support page.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18, or use it for targeted advertising.

Where information is processed

The Services are intended for people in the United States. Our website and database are hosted on a server rented from a hosting company. Our payment processor, Recurrente, is based in Guatemala, and people who work on Propeka may access information from other countries, including Guatemala. Our other providers, including Google, Postmark, Zoho and Meta, and the OpenStreetMap Foundation may process information in the United States and other countries.

Data protection laws in these countries may differ from the laws where you live. Wherever we process your information, we protect it as described in this policy.

Do Not Track and tracking across websites

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting, and some send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Our site does not currently respond to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.

As explained above, Google and other advertising companies may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites, including ours.

Emails we send

We send automated emails from noreply@propeka.com, mainly through Postmark. Depending on how you use Propeka, they can include:

  • welcome and password-setup messages, and password resets
  • listing review and publication notices
  • inquiry and tour request notifications to publishers
  • saved-search alerts
  • messages about your plan

Recurrente, our payment processor, may also email you about payments.

Emails about your account, listings and plan are part of running the Services, so you cannot unsubscribe from them while your account is open. You can stop saved-search alerts by deleting the saved search in your account.

Please do not reply to noreply@propeka.com. To reach us, use the Support page. When a publisher answers your inquiry, the reply comes from the publisher, not from Propeka.

We do not currently send marketing emails or newsletters to account holders. If we start, we will send them only to account holders who have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and we will honor unsubscribe requests as the law requires.

Other websites and services

Our pages link to, or let you use, services run by other companies, including:

  • Google and Facebook sign-in
  • Recurrente’s checkout page
  • map images and Google Maps links
  • share links
  • virtual tours and videos added by publishers

Those companies handle your information under their own privacy policies. Examples are the Google Privacy Policy, the Meta Privacy Policy and the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If we make a material change, we will point it out on this page, and we may also tell account holders by email or by a notice on the site. If we want to use personal information in a materially different way from what we described when we collected it, we will ask for your consent where the law requires.
